Jessica Bongiorno has watched every episode of "American Idol" since the show launched in 2002, but never before has she been so moved to action, so incensed at an elimination as she was when sweet-natured, stage-fright-gripped singer Alex Lambert was unceremoniously dumped Thursday night.

Though she could have sent him to prison for the infringement, Maricopa County Superior Court Commissioner Christine Mulleneaux reinstated X's probation over the objections of the prosecutor. In addition to ordering him to spend six months in jail, Mulleneaux said the troubled rapper must undergo a mental health evaluation to search for possible underlying psychological issues that might be driving his need to self-medicate. She said he could be released earlier if he is accepted into a court-approved drug rehabilitation program.

The rumor appears to have begun with a segment that aired on CNN on Sunday in which reporters Fredricka Whitfield and Jacqui Jeras discuss the video — which at press time has been viewed more than 14 million times on YouTube since its release late Thursday — and say that MTV had banned the clip. The CNN video has circulated widely on the Internet, but does not currently appear to be on the CNN site; it can be viewed on MediaIte.com.
